Imagine the Beatles

The wonderful Miss Karen Barnett will entertain the crowds with her Country Rock Tribute !

Chichino-Chichino-Chichino-Chichino.  Say it over and over and it's like an insistent, infectious rhythm track.  Hardly surprising, because Chichino is the name of a Leeds-based band who create and present their contagious fusion of funk and soul with an exuberant enthusiasm calculated to push your get-up-and-dance button.

The musical references and influences are impeccable, the best in the business.  "Jamiroquai, The Brand New Heavies, Stevie Wonder, Jools Holland …"  Narelle, whose stylish presence, powerful voice and elegant keyboard skills front the band, recites the names of acid jazz, soul and funk legends with the reverence they deserve, to nods and smiles of agreement from her three fellow band members, drummer Andre Siron, guitarist Gary Williams and bassist John Fowles.

Signed to London's Junk Label,  Chichino write their own material and are recording their debut album with renowned producer Clyde Ward.  "Clyde's worked with some incredible people," says Andre, who co-founded the band with Narelle in 2003, "Blondie, Sting, Eric Clapton, George Michael, the list is amazing."  "And let’s not forget Corinne Bailey Rae, another Leeds lass," says Narelle.

Their first single, "Every Little Thing," reached Number 41 in the UK Independent Charts last February and a recent Clyde Ward remix of their track "It Could Happen To You,"  hit number seven on the Music Week commercial club chart.

All over the UK, the band's reputation is growing fast.  They played at numerous festivals and road shows last summer, including the Gosport Waterfront Festival where they supported 80's soul star Jaki Graham.  Supporting Mica Paris at the Karen Millen Christmas party in London, they entertained the glitzy audience from a stage above a swimming pool.

They have recently been gigging local venues around the South of England and mix their set of Modern American and Classic British Pop Rock with an ensemble of Acoustic tracks. They are set to provide a highly entertaining and energetic show. The band consists of:

Roy Peplow – Vocals/ Rhythm Guitar Kieron Howes – Drums/ Backing Vocals,  Dan Kennedy – Lead/ Rhythm Guitar and Adam Baker – Bass Guitar

After playing in previous bands such as “Mucky Fingers” and “Symphony of Sound” Kieron and Adam decided to join with aspiring Songwriter Roy and after a few guitarist issues they found accomplished Guitarist Dan to blend the mix of Rock and modern Acoustic material. After performing in a competition early 2007 and reaching the semi finals they decided to take it further! With many more gigs lined up they are taking the music scene by storm with there E.P due out any time soon!
